Bond Chinatown Ventures, LLC and Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering,
Department of Public Works Lead Agency: City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works Date Completed: February 2007 The Blossom Plaza site is located northeast of the intersection of Broadway and College Street, in the City of Los Angeles and is comprised of six contiguous lots located at 900-924 Broadway, 215-219 College Street and 901 Spring Street in a locally urbanized portion of Chinatown. The proposed project consists of a mixed-use development with 223 residential condominium units, (50 studio units, 108 one-bedroom units, and 65 two-bedroom units), approximately 25,000 square feet of retail space, approximately 9,000 square feet of sit-down style restaurant space, approximately 6,000 square feet of quick -serve dining space and a four-level subterranean parking garage with approximately 617 parking stalls for project use. A portion of these parking stalls would also serve the Metro, the Chinese Cultural Center, and the Plaza space. The proposed project includes the removal of all existing land uses including the existing and vacant Little Joe's Restaurant located on the corner of College Street and Broadway as well as the surface parking lot which occupies the remainder of the site. The proposed project would become the new eastern gateway of Chinatown connecting the Gold Line Metro Rail Station with Central Plaza and the historic core of Chinatown. The urban plan for this development is based on design principles found both in historic Chinese city planning and the original 1938 plan for New Chinatown of Los Angeles. |
