Client:
City of Los Angeles Lead Agency: City of Los Angeles Date Completed: July 1998 The Cinerama Dome project consisted of the development of an approximate 300,000 square foot community serving entertainment complex, anchored by a multi-screen movie theater facility. Net new development totaled approximately 280,000 square feet. The 5,400-seat movie theater component of the project featured retention of the existing 959-seat Cinerama Dome Theatre and the addition of approximately 4,441 new movie theater seats on the second level of a four-level complex. The Cinerama Dome Theater modernization became the centerpiece of the project. The dome structure, the single most important feature of the building, was preserved, while the remaining elements of the building were altered or removed. Although the project includes new development outside of the Dome, the Cinerama Dome itself remains a single-screen theater and retains the ability to screen all movie formats currently shown. |
