Comprehensive Project List

  Client: Los Angeles Arena Company
Lead Agency: City of Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency
Date Completed: January 2001

Prior to joining CAJA, Mr. Fajnor prepared the EIR for the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Complex (Staples Center). The project site was comprised of approximately 27.1 acres in the southwest section of downtown Los Angeles, approximately 1.5 miles southwest of Los Angeles City Hall, and 0.5 miles northeast of the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10) and the Harbor Freeway (I-110) interchange. The proposed project included the development of a variety of hotel, retail, entertainment, and residential uses. Specifically, the project consisted of the construction of a new 20,000-seat sports and entertainment arena, 100,000 square feet of team office space, along with a provision for future development of up to 500,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment uses and up to 1,800 hotel rooms. In addition to the EIR the project was implemented via a Specific Plan and various other land use entitlements. The proposed Specific Plan described a range of allowable land uses and associated densities, as well as applicable building envelopes providing height limitations, setbacks, and related urban design parameters.
