Client: San Mateo County Planning & Building Division Lead Agency: San Mateo County Date Completed: In Progress The proposed project consists of a major subdivision and a grading permit to divide six legal parcels totaling 13.3 acres into 25 single family lots. The project site is located at the intersection of Bel Aire Road and Ascension Drive in the unincorporated San Mateo Highlands. The project would include all associated improvements including the creation of new public streets, new storm drain system, new sewer system, realignments of water mains, new pump for domestic water, recreational trails and a playground. Historical landslide activity in the subdivision adjacent to the site indicates the site slopes may be highly susceptible to landslides. For example, a landslide occurred in 1983 between Rainbow Drive and Starlite Drive, approximately 800 feet northwest of the site. Another landslide occurred in 1997 between Polhemus Road and Rainbow Drive, approximately 1,200 feet northwest of the site. Site preparation for the project would require 100,200 cubic yards of grading on an average slope of 40%. ![]() Site plan for the Thomas Subdivision Project Source: Lea & Sung Engineering, Inc., August 23, 2003 |
