Client: Bond 5555 Hollywood LLC Lead Agency: City of Los Angeles Date Completed: In Progress The approximately 1.1-acre project site is located in the City of Los Angeles at the northwest corner of North Garfield Place and Hollywood Boulevard. A portion of the project site is located within the Hollywood Redevelopment Project area. Specifically, the proposed project is located at 5553/5555 Hollywood Boulevard and 1711, 1717, and 1723-1723 _ North Garfield Place. The proposed project consists of construction of a Whole Foods Market and associated parking facilities on the project site. The building would be two stories with two levels of above ground parking. The total height of the building would be approximately 41 feet with the maximum height of the four elevator/staircase enclosures not exceeding 57 feet. The supermarket retail area would be approximately 42,000 square feet located on the ground level. Typical Whole Foods Markets include a deli counter, produce displays, bakery, floral, grocery, meat/poultry, prepared foods, seafood, wine, and cheese departments. The mezzanine level would consist of approximately 10,000 square feet of space which would be utilized for merchandise storage. The proposed project would also include the demolition of a vacant commercial building presently located on the project site. An approximate 900 square foot outdoor dining area would be located along the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk. The dining area would include patio seating (tables and chairs) with umbrellas. This area would be separated from the sidewalk by a planter and would be accessible from both the sidewalk and from inside the store. Parking for the supermarket would be provided on the 2nd and rooftop levels of the building. A total of between 170 and 210 parking spaces would be provided. The parking ramp is fully enclosed and would be setback from the northern property boundary with a 5 foot landscaped buffer. Two elevators and a set of stairs are located along Hollywood Boulevard and one set of stairs is located on North Garfield Place, all of which provide access to the parking levels. Landscaping would be provided in the form of street trees and planter boxes located along Hollywood Boulevard and North Garfield Place. Along the north property line, a 5-foot wide landscaped buffer zone would be planted. The project site would be illuminated with lighting from within the store and from security lighting on both parking levels and in the stairwells. These lights would be shielded and focused on the project site.
