CAJA prepares shade and
shadow analyses by overlaying shadow diagrams on a base map that show
the building footprints of the project and the surrounding buildings.
The intent of this work is to illustrate any change in shadow patterns
that would be directly attributable to the project, and to visually demonstrate
the effect of these shadows on surrounding land uses, particularly any
adjacent residential or other sensitive uses. In addition to creating shade/shadow graphics, CAJA has the capability to create shadow videos. A shadow video depicts the daily movement of a shadow from sunrise to sunset. This gives the audience (i.e. decision makers and/or the public) a more depictive view of what impacts a shadow may or may not have on sensitive uses in a project area. ![]() Nob Hill: Nob Hill Proposed Project Shadows ![]() Wilshire: Wilshire Comstock Proposed Project Shadows |
